Developing Tomorrow's Senior Players, Today

The Norwich Rugby Academy (supported by Titan Wealth) is led and managed by Ron Munson It is his task to ensure the Academy has a strategic direction and all of its work is coordinated to reach its aims and to ensure the budget is well spent. 

It is made up of our U16s and U17/18 boys and girls into one entity coached by senior staff, who are led by Head Coach and former Tongan International Dave Tiueti. The Academy boys train together but still compete in separate age groups in their respective fixtures.

The girls train separately from the boys and are coached by Academy coaches. The Academy aims to upskill players and replicate patterns of play of the senior sides, ensuring a smooth transition to senior rugby and also promote rugby across schools in the city.

We have a coaching team dedicated to helping these players combining core skills, strategies, S&C training and potentially working with psychologists to help build resilience.

The Academy has its own brand and identity, creating a unifying ‘esprit des corps’ that brings people together to achieve a common goal. Whilst we strive for excellence, we are inclusive with our approach, encouraging all players and recognising the individual journeys of young players.

Alongside its own coaching team, the Academy sides have their own kit, both on the field and off the field to help create an identity.

Beyond the pitch, the academy is committed to strengthening rugby provision in local schools. We’re forging links with state high schools where opportunities for the sport are limited, ensuring more young athletes can experience the game we love.

Training and matches

Training Sessions: Twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Time: 18:30 - 20:00

Match Days: Most Sundays

Kick-off: Usually 12:30

Building partnerships with schools

The generous sponsorship from Titan Wealth has allowed us to build partnerships with a number of schools within our catchment area who work with us and give young people aged 15-18 the opportunity to learn rugby.

We provide qualified, experienced and DBS checked coaches to lead training sessions on a regular basis at the school. We will also provide equipment and are flexible on timings of the sessions.

We are entirely inclusive, taking young players on a development journey with no prior experience necessary

We would like participants to exhibit the core values of our sport, namely TREDS: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship

The ambition is to offer pupils an opportunity to broaden their experience and participate in the wonderful team sport of rugby. It is hoped that players would wish to pursue their rugby further, so they would be most welcome to join our youth section at Norwich RFC, where the Academy is based.
